Jewel of the Dragon
This fixed 40 line slot by Bally is rather odd looking as the 5 x 4 reels arrangement appears in the lower half of the screen beneath a grinning dragon on a rock. As soon as you start to spin you see why – as the reels spin, shapes fall Tetris-like from the top of the screen and if a shape stops in a position that intersects the reels (as happens occasionally), all the symbols it covers turn wild. This feature is called Hot Zone. Some of the shapes are rather large and there is even one which, in the very unlikely event that it stopped in precisely the right place, would completely cover the reels turning everything wild for a huge payout.
The unique features of this slot don’t stop there. Some of the symbols (like one of the aces in the above screenshot) have a jewel overlay. Get three or more of these scattered to trigger the Drop Zone bonus. This starts with a click and pick to determine which shape will be used (from a subset of the Hot Zone shapes) and then it is randomly dropped on to the reels turning all the symbols inside it wild.
There’s also the Dragon Nudge feature which applies to a small subset of the Hot Zone shapes. If one of those shapes stops in the dragon’s part of the screen without intersecting with the reels at all, the dragon may nudge it down on to the reels.
Jewel of the Dragon also has a free spins bonus round which is triggered by getting 3 or more bonus scatters. It consists of 8 free spins and cannot be retriggered. If it was triggered by 4 scatters the free spins take place at a 2x multiplier and if it was triggered by 5 scatters they take place at a 5x multiplier. During the free spins, Drop Zone and Dragon Nudge are not available but Hot Zone continues to be and any wilds that appear on the reels as a result of Hot Zone remain in place for the rest of the free spins.
